The Roots & Wings Team: Committed To Excellence
Shaun is the Executive Director here at Roots and Wings. He earned a Bachelor’s of Social Work Degree from Iona College, and a Master’s degree from The Hunter School of Social Work. For over 14 years, Shaun has been working in the fields of trauma and supportive housing. Shaun’s passion has been to help those who have endured cycles of trauma and abuse break free of those harmful relationships, patterns, and belief systems. He is passionate about building healthy communities, creating stable and nurturing environments, and supporting a strong team of clinicians to make a significant impact in helping our clients to define and achieve full and satisfying lives for themselves.
Christine is the Program Director at Roots and Wings. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Montclair State University and a Master of Social Work from Rutgers University. For the past decade, Christine has been working with those experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity and chronic trauma. Christine believes that we as humans are incredibly resilient and how, with a little help, can achieve any goal. Christine spent years assisting formerly homeless individuals get back to work and take control of their lives to make them what they desired. She is passionate about empowering people in this way and in the process helping people live full and satisfying lives. Christine is thrilled to be a part of the Roots & Wings team to aid young people develop and achieve the life goals that they want for themselves as they enter adulthood.
Stephanie earned a Bachelor’s degree in marketing from The Fashion Institute of Technology. She has worked in the fashion industry in sales management and buying and has years of experience in office management in the real estate industry. Stephanie has decided to join the Roots & Wings team to be part of an organization that aids in empowerment of young people and has the ability to impact the course of their lives in a positive way.
RISE Case Manager
Lamont James is one of Roots and Wings Case Managers. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Bloomfield College. Lamont is currently pursuing a boxing trainer certification at Aces Boxing Club in Boonton, NJ and a Personal Training certification at the National Personal Training Institute (NPTI). Lamont has a passion for helping people from all ages and background.
FLY Program Coordinator
Allison Mirabelli is one of Roots and Wing’s Case Managers. Allison is a Licensed Associate Counselor in the state of New Jersey and a National Certified Counselor. She earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Bachelor’s degrees in Criminology and Psychology at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Allison began her involvement with Roots and Wings as an intern where she developed a passion for helping young adults work towards their goals and independence.
Denise earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Montclair State University and is currently a first year Master’s in Social Work student. Prior to entering the MSW program, she spent 30 years in the fitness industry working with people of all ages and fitness levels helping them to reach their fitness goals. Denise has earned certifications in personal training as well as various group fitness certifications. Her specialty in the fitness industry is working with elderly and post-therapy clients, as well as designing sports specific training programs for children and adolescents. After earning her degree, Denise would like to work with a diverse population of people in a clinical setting serving individuals, couples, and groups.
Amandeep graduated from Montclair State University in 2019 with a Bachelor’s in Child Advocacy and Policy. She is currently pursuing her second year of her Master’s in Social Work with a concentration in Children, Youth, and Families. Amandeep is excited to be a part of Roots and Wings as an intern; she looks forward to expanding her skills and gaining more knowledge about working with young adults aging out of the foster care system. Pursuing Social Work is important to Amandeep as it allows her to advocate for vulnerable populations, encourage resiliency, and challenge social constructs. In her free time, she enjoys reading, trying new adventures, and trying new desserts.
